Our Vision and Mission
Statement
When we talk about a Mission Statement, what we
are really talking about is our Vision for what we want our
Church to become, and the impact that we want to make on our
community. To begin, we acknowledge that we are
in-perfect people. That as humans, we are sinful and we
make mistakes. Our goal is to become more like Christ
and in doing that, we acknowledge that it takes a daily
commitment on the part of our church, its leadership and our
members.
We have dreams and goals in
mind.
We dream of providing a haven where the hurting and lonely
can find a place of love and acceptance, forgiveness and
healing, guidance and encouragement.
We dream of developing people to spiritual maturity through
small groups, Bible teaching, retreats, and ministry
opportunities.
We dream of equipping every believer for service by helping
them discover the gifts and talents God has given them.
We dream of becoming a Bible-based Christian community that
loves, laughs, worships, prays, and evangelizes.
We dream of sending out missionaries and church workers all
around the world and empowering every member for a personal
life mission.
WHAT IS OUR
MISSION?
Simply stated it is:
To turn lost people
into sold-out followers of Christ.
We believe that the primary purpose of our existence is to…
-
Bring people into a relationship with Jesus
-
Nurture their total commitment to Jesus
We have come to that conclusion by…
* Looking at the words of Jesus about himself;
“For the
Son of Man came to seek and save that which was lost.”
(Luke 19:10)
* Looking at His life which demonstrated this stated
purpose.
* By deciding to obey his final command to us,
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”
(Matthew 28:19)
WHAT IS OUR
VISION?
To be a community, committed to Christ while caring for
others.
CORE VALUES
-
Jesus said He didn't come "to be served, but to serve and to
give His life as a ransom for many" (Mt.
20:28, NIV). Our leadership, beginning with the
Senior Minister, will strive to model itself after Jesus’ servant
leadership. We will be people of integrity, and will serve
those whom the Lord commits to our care.
-
Ministry is not the possession of an elite few, but the
responsibility of every member of the Body of Christ.
-
All believers should participate in ministry and service to
the church and to the world.
TAKING IT
A STEP FURTHER
-
Lost people matter to God, therefore they matter to
us.
”For the Son of Man came to seek and to
save what was lost.”
Luke 19:10
-
Biblical teaching is essential to growth and
maturity.
”All Scripture is God-breathed and is
useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in
righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly
equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17
-
Life change happens best in small groups.
”Therefore encourage one another and build
each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11
-
Christ-followers meet weekly to honor, worship, and
celebrate God.
”Let us not give up meeting together, as
some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one
another-and all the more as you see the day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:25
-
Families are mandated by God to pass on His values.
”These commandments that I give you
today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your
children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you
walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get
up.”
Deuteronomy 6:6-7
-
Christ-followers use their God-given resources to
advance the kingdom.
”Each one should use whatever gift he
has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s
grace in its various forms.”
1 Peter 4:10
-
Biblical unity is practiced in word and action.
“Make every effort to keep the unity of
the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:3
-
God deserves excellence in all we do.
"And whatever you do, whether in word
or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving
thanks to God the Father through Him."
Colossians 3:17
A SOLD-OUT
FOLLOWER
(Mission Made Visible)
A sold-out follower of Christ is committed to:
GRACE
We will lead by committing everything we do to prayer,
ensuring that all we teach, do, and say consistently
demonstrates our complete reliance upon God, and His
sufficiency to meet our every need as we submit to His will.
GROWTH
He/She will consistently spend time in prayer, the study
and life application of the bible, and participate in the
learning opportunities provided by the church. Additionally,
he/she will be diligent in passing on their faith to their
children, both at home and in the programs provided by the
church.
GROUP GATHERING
He/She will faithfully participate in both the weekly
worship services and weekly small groups.
GIFTS
He/She will diligently discover, develop, and deploy the
spiritual gifts given by God for the purpose of building up
the church through “others-focused” ministry.
GOD’S LOVE
He/She will learn to effectively share his/her faith in
ways that are consistent with how God designed their
personality and communication style.
GOOD STEWARDSHIP
He/She will live each day with a “God’s Kingdom” first
mentality, being generous in the use of God-given resources of
time, mind, gifts, and finances.
